OUR DISTRICT
The 6th District is a wonderful place to live, work, and play. This diverse district is home to 17 neighborhood associations, nine public schools, and seven city parks, including the Brighton Rail Trail, a shared-use trail that connects Man O War Blvd. to Pleasant Ridge Park and Polo Club Blvd. The district also includes Hamburg Pavilion which draws thousands of residents from across Lexington and neighboring counties for business and pleasure.
The 6th District also has a rich cultural history. Notable historic sites include the horseshoe-shaped Hamburg Place Horse Cemetery, one of Hamburg’s loveliest green spaces. It houses the remains of some of racing’s most famous thoroughbreds and several Kentucky Derby winners. The district also includes a Rosenwald School in Cadentown, which was a segregated one-teacher community school for black students in Fayette County. The namesake of the Bryan Station neighborhood and schools, Bryan’s Station, is also located in the district. The frontier fort came under a combined attack in 1782 by Native Americans, Tories, and Canadian Rangers.
The major corridors in the 6th District are Paris Pike, Winchester Rd., Liberty Rd., Bryan Station Rd., and New Circle Rd.
